I have (said almost with a sense of complete surprise) come to the decision I am actually a touch on the Bohemian side (there I said it).
Why it is a surprise baffles me, you just have to look around my home to see the not so subtle decor hints.... How I missed this major clue mystifies me too.
The amount of indoor plants that jostle for space.
The fact I have cats who
The suzani type floor throw I bought from a junk shop 15 years ago when we barely had two pennies to rub together, the lights and stars and feathers and stones
The lit candles and wafting incense.
Oh and the dangly earrings, the bangles and long skirts that fill my wardrobe.
Now I am obviously not a true bohรจmien in the correct sense of the word - but I do seem to have great potential should I apply for the position full time!
I have recently hankered for a Scandi-style and as hard as I tried, I only seemed to have little 'spot-lights' of minimalist Nordic-cool surrounded by wild shades of terracotta, books and plants. Then, as I was searching for something** on the 'net a couple of nights ago and came across an image courtesy of Pinterest (http://bit.ly/1P0SNfl)
I stared.
Eldest, who was sitting next to me, lent over and said 'that looks like our house'.
He was correct.
It does.
Except it doesn't have the pile of cats sleeping in front of the woodburner - but that is a minor detail!
So I am trying now to embrace something I have always been - apart from being odd, but then I knew that. I think I am rather enjoying my 'new' personna - long live Bohemia!
**What I was looking for (and this clue will seal it for you) was 'How to make a dreamcatcher' Yup - see what I mean?
Any hoo, in my new guise I have made my dreamcatcher and will post it tomorrow - *shakes head at the absurdity of it all - so a leopard can change its spots or rather, it can learn to love and live in its spots with pride :)

BOHEMIAN (urban dictionary) somebody who leads an alternative lifestyle, they are not hippies because they can have an extremely wide range of different tastes in music, fashion, art, literature etc they are usually very creative people. they are above all optimists, even if they can be very cynical too(it does make sense...sort of). they like wearing a mixture of weird clothes and mix different fashions together just for the heck of it. they like weed. generally very laid back and relaxed.

ReplyDeleteI don't think you are odd, and not sure really about Bohemian, but just wonderfully creative and what I describe as a 'thinker'. The style probably comes from growing up in Africa. I know I'm eclectic and different, but just take it as it comes now that I'm in my 60's. Love to see the dreamcatcher as I've seen so many takes on them. Don't you love Pinterest? Take care.
