Just about bordering on odd, I see things through different eyes. The heading says it all - I live, I love, I craft, I am me...

One woman and her dog went to mow, went to mow a meadow!

On what must have been one of the warmest day's we've had for quite some time - I strimmed a large wildflower meadow..... raked it up... then mowed the shaggy clumps that were left .... raked that lot up too - to say I was *!|??"*% jiggered by the end of it is no exaggeration....and I was absolutely covered in grass and hay which was so tickly and scratchy it was almost unbearable!
The first thing I did when I got home was shake myself like a dog, beat my clothing like a carpet, jump in the shower and try to dissolve myself under the water - then collapse with a mug of tea (well several mugs of tea in quick succession) until Himself came home.

Of course I had a brew with him too - I think I am finally feeling human again.

Also on what has been a rather warm day - I tried on my finished BLO crochet beanie, made Himself try it on and took photos of my next one .... hello hook, I am back - have you missed me?

    1. Oh - I've lived in houses like that - you think you will managed then eventually you realised how much you miss it! I have warmed to that grey - initially felt it was a bit 'flat' but a combination of the stitch texture and the strawberry have lifted it :)

  2. My goodness Kate.....how big was that meadow? Did Moss need a shake, brush & wash too? The crochet hat looks great & your work is always so neat. Loving that your crafting mojo is returning & look forward to seeing more of your garden/craft adventures. Take care, stay safe & hugs.

    1. Hi -IT IS a rather large garden sized meadow - size of a tennis court??ish but by the end of the day it felt ENORMOUS!

  3. You have my sympathies with the meadow mowing - I'd be completely jiggered after 5 minutes! I have a bank we left to go feral as I couldn't manage it with the mower or (when too long for that) the strimmer (dust not good for asthma) so am going to call in a gardener we have the number for. Our two paddocks need doing too - Rosebay Willowherb everywhere, along with brambles.

As autumn is here I am going to dive head-first into my UFO x-stitch projects and perhaps even finish some quilt projects too . . .

    1. It is definitely a young person's 'game' but I am determined not to admit defeat - I certainly feel it today๐Ÿ˜‚ I am wondering if the shortening day light is the trigger we all needed to reach for the UFOs and crafts?

  4. I can sympathise with the heat....three hours cleaning on a hot afternoon followed by an evening's morris dancing last night in a mask left me quite warm!! Arilx

  5. Lovely hat and you would have needed it here yesterday morning - thick mist and damp cobwebs everywhere until the sun burned through.

  7. It certainly is 'hat making' time now. I've been gifted 2 lots of yarn for hats so will need to get my thinking cap on..... I gave up mowing any grass 6 years ago as that time really made my knee go wonky so Beloved does this job (now and then!). Perhaps you need to hire some tame lambs.... x

    1. Funnily enough, the garden is surrounded by lambs and ewes for most of the year, nothing in the fields at the moment so I was the last resort!

    1. Hi Amanda - it's a me-made pattern - if you hang on I will do a post for it - super simple (has to be for me!) and very satisfying to do ๐Ÿ˜˜, I've just finished the blue shades one, will start another and take photos and do a 'recipe' x

    1. I think the cooling down of the weather definitely has that kickstart to crochet and the meadow (is part of a garden!) was big enough!! was glad to see the back of it TBH ๐Ÿ˜„
