Our last day meant that we packed up (reluctantly) as we had to vacate the site by midday. We left Youngest and his lovely girl folding away their tent as Himself and I took Moss for one last little walk from the campsite. That is our set up in the middle - van and green tent - it had been an interesting few days watching other camping setups, people dynamics and camping etiquette (or the lack of it...)
We decided to get a picnic from Kewsick and go up to Nobel Knott Woodlands, eat our lunch then go for a walk - which we did and it was a wonderful way to end our jollies.
It was delightful to sit amongst the trees, eating and chatting. We agreed that we'd rather enjoyed our jolly and it should be repeated. Then, once replete, we followed the trail to the far side of the woodlands to enjoy the view.
Leaving the welcome shade of the woods was like walking into a bracken scented oven - but it was worth it. We did not linger long though and soon returned to the path taking us back into the trees and joy of joys for Moss we found a small and rather chilly burbling stream. We stopped for a while.
People watching on a campsite is a fun pastime, and never more so than when someone is putting up a tent :)
ReplyDeleteThere was a family opposite us who took three very...very...very vocal hours to put up a tent - they kept every one in the immediate vicinity entertained for most of the evening!
DeleteAh, camping etiquette, can tell a few tales on that account. Rule no. 1 - don't let your dog p*ss on my tent or you will get an earful! Glad you had such an enjoyable break anyway.
ReplyDeleteI agree! that is horrible!
DeleteLooks like some very happy memories were made on your holiday
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
Yes, lots of lovely memories made this last week x
DeleteA good holiday...and lucky to pack a dry tent!!
ReplyDeleteA very good holiday indeed :)
DeleteSounds so enjoyed by all and a wonderful break in the wild. I've loved being taken along walking & viewing the scenic countryside. Those quotes are awesome & something you could try, knowing you are clever with slate..........(grin). Thanks for sharing, take care & hugs.
ReplyDeleteIt was good - very good. Just what we needed!
DeleteYet more wonderful memories. People can be so entertaining.... I'd have to erect the tent at home just so I knew how to do this when I arrived..... x
ReplyDeletePeople are entertaining! The one that really got the whole site watching was a family of three erecting an 'instagram porn' tepee and campervan set up - three hours it kept them busy and the site enthralled.....!
DeleteWhen we had our camper van we used to love watching people set up their camps. My favourite was the site near Harwich so lots of continentals off the ferry from Europe. All different types of equipment.
ReplyDeleteYes, there were a lot of Dutch van folk and it was interesting to see how there set ups differed to the uk ones
DeleteAll good things must come to an end...so home again home again jiggidey jig. x
ReplyDeleteHome again jiggedy jig indeed! I'd forgotten that one, used to happily chant it with the boys on the way home from school when they were 'ickum bickums' 😄
DeleteMy daughter and I love the words in the woods trail, we often walk that whilst big brother is mountain biking on the trails from the visitor centre. We have also stayed in that campsite, a lovely spot and I agree hard to leave. Watching folks on campsites is a wonderful activity, often hugely entertaining.
ReplyDeleteIt was such a lovely find (the trail) and I was super pleased to find a tiny jay feather at the far side of the woods. The campsite is in a very picturesque setting - a lovely place indeed🌞
DeleteI haven't heard of Nobel Knot Woodland so I'm off to Google it. Glad you had a lovely camping trip. X
