Last year, no thanks to lockdown, we were unable to walk up a favourite hill and immerse ourselves in the bluebells. We first went as part of a works outing in 2013 - and we fell in love with not only the flowers but the hill itself often returning to include it in our walks around the Dales.
It was a lovely walk and as we arrived back at the van Himself noticed a sharp shower flying up the valley towards us, so we quickly stepped out of our boots and retreated inside, lit the kettle and sat listening to the rain hammering down on the roof - safe and warm clutching a mug of tea.
It felt good to have been out, it felt even better to have beaten the rain and kept dry πΆπΌ♀️πΆπ½♂️πΎπ»πΌπΉ
I always look forward to the bluebell postings each year. I did miss them last year so I'm happy to see them start. Glad you could get out and enjoy the fresh air and flowers.
ReplyDeleteWe really missed last year - but did not register how much until we did it this time and then we realised!
DeleteReading your blog immediately brought to mind 'Rain upon the Roof' lyrics. Remember it? By the Loving Spoonful. Just looked at again and lyrics very apt for you.
ReplyDeleteYou and me and rain on the roof, Caught up in a summer shower. Dryin' while it soaks the flowers. Maybe we'll be caught for hours' Waitin' out the sun. π§‘π¦΄π¦΄
Don't know it at all - even went on 'good ol' yutuubes to check :) It was definitely a summer(ish) shower and it came up so quickly - glad we were not caught out in it - we would have got drenched :)
DeleteIt sounds like a lovely walk and Moss looks like she was enjoying it. I like the flowers in the last pic and the shot with the horses is lovely :)
ReplyDeleteThat field of horses were a lovely mix of breeds - the prettiest palomino I have seen in a very long time, the Tobiano skewbald was very handsome as were the couple (I think) Dales bred ponies - all really good condition :)
DeleteSurely nothing can be more beautiful together than primroses and bluebells. x
ReplyDeleteIt is their simplicity and the colours that pull at my heart each time (that and their scent) :)
DeleteWhat a lovely walk Kate. Thanks for sharing with the lovely bluebells & of course cuddly Moss. Take care, stay safe & hugs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan, it was a lovely walk - feels good to be getting back to our special walks :)
DeleteThere she goes... I'd follow Moss anywhere (practically...not sure I'd like getting a mud bath LOL!). She so knows the good routes. Beautiful bluebells and primroses. I think I heard/read on someone's blog that Bluebells are protected flowers now. Just as well! keep well Amanda x
ReplyDeleteHi Amanda - Moss does know the good paths indeed! Yes Bluebells are protected now - but it did not stop a couple of lads stealing thousands of them - fortunately they were apprehended and the bulbs replanted. x
DeleteThank goodness they were caught! A )-:
DeleteGlad you got out to walk amongst the bluebells. I've seen so many recently, as well as dandelions, which I love. I do enjoy seeing swathes of them along the roadsde! There have been some nasty showers of late! We drove up to Ribblehead yesterday, stopping at Seasons Bakery; I almost got soaked getting from the shop to our truck (which was parked by the door!). x
ReplyDeleteThe field of gold (dandelions) was the most yellow field we have ever seen - it was lovely. What did you get from Seasons bakery - we have had their giant custard slices (nom nom) and curry pies (not nom not nom) :D
DeleteA beautiful walk. Everything is growing so quickly all of a sudden. X
