Oh poor Moss..........and yes, scary as they don't understand. Fireworks are not allowed here in Oz, except for New Year's Eve and only managed by local government to be displayed as an event. The fun we had as kid's on different "bonfire" occasions was great & I feel the children today who don't have near as much "magical" moments as we did are missing out on a lot. Thanks for sharing, take care & hugs. A big one for Moss from me.
ReplyDeleteWish they would clamp down here - every year there are empty threats by various councils/governments about reducing the hours, the days that fireworks can be used, no one listens and we end up with up to 2 weeks of banging and fireworks - animals really struggle. Ideally their sale would be prohibited and only organisers could use them at events. But that is sort of out of the question - with reduced gatherings...
DeleteJust read Tracy's comment & that is exactly what I was trying to convey with sparklers etc, just pretty colour & a well controlled fire & maybe a few penny bungers, nothing loud & scary.
DeleteAwwwww. I just nearly shot off the sofa as several explosions went off nearby. Whatever happened to waving a sparkler around whilst watching a catherine wheel spinning round shooting out prettily coloured sparks? (Badly nailed to the fence, of course, and about to shoot off and chase your Dad down the garden!)
ReplyDeleteI quite agree - they are quite unexpected and at odd hours and often nowhere near 5th November or New Years Eve!

DeletePoor Moss. They were being let off until almost midnight here. It was Tilly's first ever Bonfire Night as she is only ten months old and she was barking and upset. I expect there will be more of the same tonight Grrrr!

DeleteOh poor Moss. Fireworks seem to have changed dramatically over the last ten years. We never used to be able to buy the bigger ones but now it’s harder to buy the small traditional ones. Also there seem to be more displays that rock the whole town … spaced out over several nights so they don’t clash with each other. Now I do love fireworks but they do seem to go on from before Halloween right up to New Year now 😃

DeleteOh! Moss...poor darling!! She looks so scared and confused tucked up in her duvet. During the local big festival here fireworks are let off constantly throughout the three days! My cat used to hide in our wardrobe under Sr P's jumpers as soon as he would hear the first whoosh of a rocket going off and would only come out for a bite to eat and scamper back into his hiding place again. Every year the same procedure. Keep well. Amanda x
ReplyDeleteAww poor thing - we had one who'd hide in the airing cupboard and not come out for hours. We have fire works again tonight and we have wrapped her up again 😞
DeleteShe looks cute wrapped up in her duvet. One day all fireworks will be silent, there's no need for all the loud bangs.

ReplyDeleteOne night of fireworks is just about tolerable but these days they last for several weeks and then there is Christmas and New Year and also birthdays etc. What was once special and good to look forward to, is now something I no longer want! I must sound old and grumpy! x
ReplyDeletePoor Moss, she looks so scared wrapped up in her duvet but looks rather cute in the first shot. I've never really been too keen on bonfire night and hate it more as I get older. When I was a kid fireworks were only on sale up to the close of business on November 5th, once a shop closed for the day that was it. You never heard any after the night itself and fireworks at New Year were unheard of, now it seems that any occasion is an excuse to let them off :(
