Sunday Sunday - so good to me *

This morning the house was filled with the scent of baking shortbread biscuits and 'damp-been-swimming-in-the-river' dog.....

Ideally she would have had a shampoo and set before my folks landed for morning coffee and shortbread oak leaves but there wasn't time (or the inclination TBH) so a little dab of lavender essential oil on her collar worked absolute wonders.
The entire house gently filled with lavender fragrance as her collar warmed the oil and now, several hours later, there is still a hint of it wafting about - nary a river-smelly dog to be smelt!
In the afternoon, despite my very bones feeling weary, Himself and Moss dragged me out for a walk.
So glad they did. The low light glowing beneath the heavy cloud filled our valley with a warm glow and made the spiderwebs sparkle on the recreation grounds. The air felt clear and fresh and certainly made me feel a whole lot better.
Earlier in the day, the village stopped and it was quiet and still, traffic ceased and heads were bowed.

Sunday has quietly slipped away. It was a gently good one and it felt right to be home appreciating the flow and ebb of a 'nothing-much-happening' day. Hope your Sunday felt right with you too xx

  1. Sounds lovely … we had a very stressful Saturday and Sunday morning … plumbing and heating problems. This afternoon was lovely though. Friends came for lunch and we did some holiday planning for a break in a few weeks. First time we’ve had visitors inside since before first lockdown … it felt nice and normal 😃

    1. Oh dear - that does sound stressful - hope all plumbing/heating behaving itself now. How exciting to be planning holidays!

  2. The shortbread looks great & hope you all enjoyed. I need a good walk too, but with so much wind, rain and freezing temperatures, yes in mid November in Oz, we just don't seem to have the inclination to go out walking. We'll re-light the fire later, I think which has been lit a few times over the last week. Take care, stay warm & hugs.

    1. It sounds like our autumn is warmer than your spring. We have the fire in at night and occasionally during the day (if I am home). Graham says that walking out in rubbish weather makes coming home to the fire and mugs of tea so much sweeter!

    1. It was, sometimes I find a quiet day dreary but every now and there - they are just what I need! And lavender dogs are to be recommended - particularly a Moss scented one hahaha

  4. I can smell the shortbreads! I too spotted yesterday that the grass in our fields is festooned with spiders' webs. Years ago there happened to be sheep in there at the same time as the spiders were making all the webs; the sheep looked to be sporting moustaches but it was actually a lot of spiders' webs! x

    1. the thought of moustachioed sheep tickled me! There was one in your neighbouring field which was obviously working for the territorial army - it was merrily dragging around half a hedge of brambles as disguise !
