My day was one of gentle stories which filled my heart.
The first was the delight on the dog's face when she realised where she was. One of her favourite spots to walk and play. She chased leaves as they blew on the wind, she paddled in the super high tides as they flooded over the road, her joy was palpable.
The next small story was filled with the scent of autumn. The fallen leaves all smelt faintly of burnt toffee with traces of damp decay. Against the grey sky the leaves and berries shone and on the buffeting winds I could feel rain mixed with salty spray.
I picked up a few leaves from the Acer Campestre - the field maple - which coated the pathway. They were soft and rain dampened - so no dry and rustling leaves to kick. After I'd taken my photograph I opened my fingers and let the wind carry them away. They lifted up and twirled about a bit then were caught by a strong gust and shot upwards eventually landing on the choppy waters.
My day was filled with so many gentle stories, all woven together, slipping into each other and making me very happy.
Hope your Saturday had moments of joy and gentle happiness which made you smile too xxxx

It sounds like a lovely day Kate, and looks like Moss enjoyed it even if the weather wasn't the best. I think I know where you were too - somewhere with the initials G D?
ReplyDeleteYou are spot on ' Glasson Dock - it is our nearest (although not near at all!) sea, so when we saw that the tides were forecast - we decided on a micro-adventure and it was brilliant!
DeleteWhat a peaceful day - it sounds very relaxing. We could do with some sea air but we have moved further inland and so the sea is a good drive away now - Aberystwyth is 1 1/4 hrs but Borth (proper sandy beaches) another 20 - 30 mins on top.
ReplyDeleteThere is something quite restorative in sea air. A dear blogging friend with long term ailments always swore that 'Vitamin Sea' was the best thing for her.
DeleteHeart-filling small stories indeed. Not sure which looks the most lovely - Moss in her happy place or van-toastie!
ReplyDeleteSorry I have missed so much of your lovely writing recently, bad cold, mush brain, unable to concentrate 🙃 🙃
Thank you Jayne, take care of yourselves - these rubbish colds can knock you sideways xx
DeleteWhat a lovely walk and you certainly delighted Moss, she does look happy. Beautiful tree, I can see why you love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Eileen 😊 Moss is such an easy to please dog - walk, water and sticks = doggy heaven!!
DeleteBeautiful words and images. I especially love the first photograph, that gorgeous face has brightened my morning. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Jules - glad she put a smile on your face, she does on ours regularly xx
DeleteMmmmmm … cheese toastie on a wet and windy day … perfect 😃
ReplyDeleteOoh it was good and it did not last long at all!
DeleteHello Kate, what a lovely post. Moss looks in her element and the handsome willow must know some good secrets. Lulu x
ReplyDeletethank you 😊 Yes, Moss loves that area and it is a most handsome tree indeed!
DeleteAh, good old GD. We've not been there for years because it is no longer possible to walk round the docks (for Beloved!) and they started to charge for parking. We are not prepared (or able!) to park well away and walk about. Beloved prefers to drive and park and hardly walk.... Moss certainly looks happy and your cheese on toast smells good! x
ReplyDeleteHi. Doing catch up. I love the tree. Looks like it's out of Harry Potter. Moss looks so happy and the cheese toastie after a walk with a mug of tea. Just perfect. Xx ❤️
