Just about bordering on odd, I see things through different eyes. The heading says it all - I live, I love, I craft, I am me...

Pass me a tissue - no the whole box

I am, as I type this, late to the party nobody actually wants to attend - both Himself and I have been unceremoniously added to the 'time to get covid' guest list.

All I can say is that I am grateful (very very grateful) that we have been jabbed.  I would not like to have been poorly without the vaccinations - I felt rough enough as it was.

Now - starting day eight, I am still testing positive and feeling rubbish but can sense I am over the worst and am (finally) heading in the right direction.  I have had 'standard' flu before and in comparison - this was definitely ramped up however in the grand scheme of things - I know I got off lightly.

Funnily enough (I must be feeling a little more human if I can see the 'funny side') the cat has rather liked the sick bay vibe we have had recently - lots of bed time, duvets at every opportunity, dozing all day and just the minimum disruption to a cat's daily sleep pattern. However, a certain all action hero🐾, despite being such a good girl and so so patient, is about to pop!  I am almost dreading my first day back to work as Moss will surely explode and round up everything and everyone until we are all dizzy and then for good measure I am pretty sure she will do it again just to make sure she got it right the first time. But until then she lies on her bed as if she has melted and oozed off on to the carpet, tongue hanging out and eyes half closed - a coiled spring ready for action.... (you will just have to use your imagination....)

Strangely - time has both stood still and completely disappeared. I can't really recall what happened to last week yet there has been moments when I have sat and watched the clouds move, birds fly, listened to the wind in the trees, watched autumnal leaves fall and felt time stop.
Yesterday Himself encouraged me to sit outside in the garden (swaddled in a duvet) to get some fresh air, although he was also struck down - he seemed to recover quicker although I feel he was initially hit harder.  Whereas I seem to be 'drifting' and I am well and truly fed up with it. So, today, dressed, with a mug of tea (about the only thing I've lived on this last week) I am kick starting the 'feeling more human' momentum by blogging.

All photos are from our holiday - which seems a life time ago.

  1. Sending big hugs..it will be another couple of days or so before you are showing clear...and a good six months before you are 100%, so no overdoing it!! Treat it like someone with CF or ME...you have so many spoons of energy available per day...always finish the day with some in hand!!
You have some beautiful holiday photos xx

    1. Thank you ❤️ I fully plan taking things carefully - I love your analogy of spoons of energy, definitely going to use that :)

  2. Oh, poor darling. Hope you are feeling somewhat better and that you can manage life/work/the coiled-spring 🐾 "assertively" to give your body a chance to heal properly. Please don't get sucked into doing too much, too soon and end up with long-Covid fatigue.

    1. Thank you dear sweet Jayne, I will be watching myself - I don't want this to linger so I shall take care and bide my time (Moss will have to just bounce up and down with glee and burn off her energy at work and I shall just observe!)

  3. Oh Kate, that's not fair, though I did think UK was basically over it and now I hear this. Hope you are soon feeling yourself soon and glad you've been jabbed. DH & I have had four jabs each & still wear masks when out and about indoors (shops etc.), though I've never liked shopping anyway, but groceries are needed so it's one of those chores that is a must. Don't go back to work until you are feeling well, as you don't need to relapse. Hope Himself is on the mend too. Take care & hugs to you all, pets included.

    1. Thank you Susan, covid is here to stay, it will eventually be endemic, we are allowed to wear or choose not to wear facemasks, we suspect G got it through work - nowhere is immune. I am grateful for both being jabbed (many times) and for the cat and dog for their company! G is doing ok - still bit weary but much better thank you :)

  4. No mention of Covid numbers on the news now but sounds as if it hasn't gone away. Hope you gradually improve over the next weeks and take it steady.

    1. When I tested myself - I wondered if I was supposed to notify 'those that need to know' - so I checked and yes we still do - so off to do that next, thank you xx

  6. Oh no...poor you. Not a nice club to become a member of at all. Don't go all out when you get better...from someone in the know from failing the hard way! x

    1. I agree, what's that saying? I don't want to be a member of a club that wants me? I am hearing the 'take care' advice from all quarters, I need to heed it!

  7. I don't believe it. Had to read this post twice (on two days) to make sure I was not imaging things. Poor you (and Himself). I'll not repeat the good advice others have given you. Yes I too think Covid is here to stay. Beloved and myself tend to keep away from everyone and I suspect that will be the way we go. Quite annoying. x

    1. It was a bit surreal when it was confirmed thanks to the test, it is, definitely endemic now and I suspect, not in our life time but the kids, that they will just ride the infection out like we do with normal flu and shrug it off with tales of the pandemic and lockdown for their kids/grandkids xx

  8. Sorry to hear your news. We haven't had it yet despite sharing our tiny house with TYM when he got it earlier in the year and having been exposed to it several times. I expect one of the strains will nobble us in the end. Hope you feel better soon. Arilx

  9. Feel better soon, Kate. And take things easy while you recover. I got off very lightly when I caught it, for which I was incredibly grateful. X

  10. I'm sorry that both of you got the dreaded lurgy. We were beginning to feel invincible after having dodged it for so long only for it to get us at Glastonbury. I'm glad the animals kept a close eye on you and that the jabs stopped both of you from getting too poorly. Feel better soon. xxx
