Just about bordering on odd, I see things through different eyes. The heading says it all - I live, I love, I craft, I am me...

For SaraJ

Blue skies and sea for SaraJ from Sara's Crafts. For medicinal purposes of course!

This is one of our most favourite beach EVER! And you can see how busy it is..... we are the only ones on it, while on the other side of the dunes the rest of the crowds miss out on this beauty and solitude.

Mind you, if they knew what we knew, then we'd not have this wonderful freedom to ourselves. So - shhhhhh, not going to say where it is!

Another of our favourite places is a little fishing village called St Abbs. It is the epitome of a Scottish village perched on the edge of a craggy coast line. Little croft houses sit next to 1930s council houses alongside palatial gothic-style Victorian mansions. An eclectic community of housing marking the passing of time, finance and fashions.

We love the quiet little streets and despite modern influences, you can still see the original construction of the houses.

We wandered around the harbour, taking in the (particularly fishy) air (!), listening to the gulls screeching and the waves sloshing around the rocky entrance. Inside the harbour walls the water was still and lightly slicked with an oily residue but still clear enough to see to the bottom and make out the rocks and seaweed.

Thank you for indulging me with holiday memories. It always amazes me that I always feel so bereft after a holiday by the coast, looking through my photos has a double edged sword to it, I love seeing them but they also make me feel quite melancholy!

Think I need to do some therapeutic knitting :)

  1. Looks like you had St Abbs to yourself too. I looked twice but I could not see any satellite dishes on the houses. Were there any? If not, does everyone have cable???? I do not think I could live without internet access! For one thing, I would not be able to read your lovely blog!

  3. Thank you. Don't you find the beach a bit busy!
    St Abbs looks great too.
I know what you mean about looking through holiday photos.

  4. All your recent seaside pics have me feeling green with envy. And St Abbs looks fabulous. I so love to be beside the sea ... particularly when there are big waves and rock pools. The river-muddy beach at Prestatyn, which is our nearest seaside town, just doesn't cut the mustard.

  5. Can't wait till we go there. Hope we have as much blue sky as you did. Must make sure the tide is in this time when we go to St Abbs. x
