Just about bordering on odd, I see things through different eyes. The heading says it all - I live, I love, I craft, I am me...

Journey

This year I have chosen not to have resolutions - that implies that things need to be resolved and if you can't attain them there is a sense of failure attached.

So this year I will be using a word I can focus on - it has taken a while to choose one. Not that I was spoilt for choice - far from it. I had a few words quietly rolling around my head, all very similar ... just not the right one.

Then this morning, through the day a word kept appearing.

Journey.

Not just including travel, although I want that to be present, but to encompass progress, self growth, self belief and development - of me. I need to move forward, move on and evolve.

An overarching focus word will certainly help me through 2020 - I am actually rather excited by it!

Have you chosen resolutions?
Do you have a focus word?
Or do you happily carry on from the previous year - impervious to that 'fresh new page' feel that the start of a new year gives?

I read somewhere recently that ..... the new year is like a blank book and the pen is in your hand, it is your chance to write a beautiful story for yourself.

Happy new year beginnings xxxxxx

  1. Good for you, that you have a Word for the Year.

All such things, at this time of year, are lovely, for those who enjoy them. But just as we are each individuals, we each take this time of year, in our own way.

I don't feel "raring to go" now. I feel happy to have more Hibernation Time. For cozy at home time... For exploring "inside," if and when that feels right. For all the things, which Deep Winter means to me.

    To each his/her own!

  2. I'm afraid the New Year seems such an unnecessary fuss to me although maybe that is because I view each day as being a blank page ready for an adventure to start. Either way I hope your journey over the coming months encompasses everything you could hope for and doesn't have too many unpleasant surprises in it.

  3. I love your word Kate ... it embodies excitement as well as all the progress. Will you paint a beautiful piece to hang in your studio to keep it in front of you?

I love new beginnings, Mondays, the 1st of the month, the start of the year and my birthday ... but this year the start has been a bit slow and like wisps of words above, Hibernation is still on my radar while slowly getting back to work .... Normally I give myself at least until the 5th to start my new year, but this year that might have to be extended by a few days lol and hopefully I'll at least get the diary transferred by Monday.

  4. Journey! An interesting word for the year ahead & hopefully we'll be with you all the way. I'm playing it safe for a while until all the chaos subsides & we can see our country safe again. It's been a tough few weeks for so many people here & I need to see a way to do my bit to help. Happy & safe journey forward Kate.

  5. I've read many people are choosing a word for the year. It's not something I've ever done but I like the idea of it. X

  6. I have never really made New Year's resolutions but a few years ago I decided I'd have the same one every year - HAVE FUN, in whatever form it takes, eg, crafting, walking, seeing birds in my garden etc etc. Also being more grateful everyday for the good things of that day. Enjoy your journey. x

  8. Positivity .... that my word for this year. Last year there was far too much negativity in my life. I need to move forward with more happy times, calm and relaxed times, making sure I am at the helm of my own ship and steering a course I want to be on. I need to accept things as they are and find ways to make the bet of everything.
